ABOUT ME
As an international student deeply committed to fostering a sustainable future, I'm pursuing a dual major in Sustainability & The Environment and Organizational Communication. My passion for environmentalism drives my academic pursuits, intertwining my love for animals and plants with a fervent desire to protect our planet's delicate ecosystems. Looking ahead, I aspire to search deeper into shaping policy frameworks that address pressing environmental concerns, hence my ambition to pursue a Master's in Public Policy. My ultimate goal is to effectively communicate and advocate for environmental issues, utilizing the power of communication to defend and preserve our environment for generations to come.

At the early age of 12, a profound moment nearly shattered my world when I almost lost my mom. It was a stark awakening, a moment that ignited a profound shift within me. In the aftermath of that trying time, I found myself drawn to what she cherished most nature and its creatures. Her values became my guiding light, and from that moment on, my passion for the environment burgeoned. Witnessing the fragility of life heightened my awareness of our planet's interconnectedness and vulnerability. Since then, my resolve to effect change and champion the environment has been unwavering. I'm driven by a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of environmental advocacy, aspiring to contribute towards a world where humanity thrives in harmony with nature.

My FIU Global Learning Experience
One of my favorites activities was the presentation of an indigenous person which captured intercultural tradition. Interculturalism encapsulates the beautiful tapestry woven by diverse traditions, beliefs, and practices that intersect and enrich our global community. It embodies the vibrant exchange of ideas, customs, and values between different cultures, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Another conference that captured my attention was about the topic of global health awareness which stands as a beacon illuminating the interconnectedness of human well-being worldwide. It embodies a collective consciousness that transcends borders, underscoring the shared responsibility to ensure equitable access to healthcare, promote disease prevention, and address the socio-economic determinants impacting health outcomes.
The last activity that I wanted to talk about explains how mental health is the cornerstone of our well-being, shaping how we perceive, navigate, and experience life's myriad challenges and joys. A society that champions mental health cultivates a culture of understanding, support, and compassion, ensuring that everyone has the resources and environment necessary to flourish emotionally and mentally.

Capstone
Composting stands as a transformative process converting organic matter into a nutrient-dense soil. Its benefits span wide: erosion reduction, facilitation of plant growth, provision of essential nutrients, and water conservation. This practice extends its reach to global concerns by curbing food waste and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and environmental degradation. Moreover, it aids soil water absorption, curtails pollutant runoffs during floods, and plays a vital role in addressing these critical issues.

During my internship, my partner and I delved into an engaging project at FIU's organic garden. Our task involved testing various soil types to identify the ones fostering faster and more nutrient-rich crop seed growth.

What does it mean to be a Global Learner?
After my journey as a global learner in the various activities completed, I can strongly define it as a learning about fostering empathy, respect, and a sense of responsibility towards the global community. It is also a commitment to contribute positively and ethically for a more interconnected world. For me, it's a passion for understanding different cultures and shapping a more equitable world.
Furthermore, global learners immerse into environments that encourage exploration of different worldviews, languages, and histories, valuing the richness that comes from embracing diversity. As an active global learner, now I can recognize and evaluate global challenges from sustainability and social justice to geopolitical issues, and seek to reasonate their complexities. Global learning transcends borders and embraces a deep curiosity about the world. It involves a mindset that actively seeks diverse perspectives, understanding, and engagement with various cultures, traditions, and global issues.
